Why Does God Delay?

Why Does God Delay?

Jesus delayed in coming to help and heal Lazarus…though there were people praying intensely. He delayed (and Lazarus died) so that others might believe. “Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe.” John 11:14 He delayed so that God would be glorified. His timing was not off, He did not have to correct a mistake. He delayed for something better. Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” John 11:40 Where in your life do you feel that God is delaying? What is that thing where you feel that you are in the eleventh hour? God is delaying for a purpose. Hold tight, beloved child of God, press into Him…you will see the glory of...

Six Hours

Taking you back in time to listen to a song I wrote many years ago about the six hours on the cross. It is  hard to wrap my brain around the fact that Christ was willing to become what I am, so that I can become what he is – free from sin – by the way of his atoning sacrifice. While I was still wearing the filthy rags of rebellion toward God – He called me to Him. A perfect Lamb, it was perfect love that was thinking of me when He spread out His arms wide and died for me. The lyrics are posted below the song link/ click below to hear the song 06 Six Hours (written, recorded by J. McClain copyright 2000) What I am is a child of grace, what I am is free from sin What I am is guilty for your hours of agony Chorus: Six hours of agony, six hours in...

And God Saw That it Was Good

And God Saw That it Was Good

And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:20-21. Look around…see the magnificent creation that God SPOKE into being. How glorious, how miraculous is His creativity throughout the earth. What delight He must have in seeing the work of HIS hands! If He can speak into being humpback whales, sea turtles that migrate for thousands of miles, gorgeous and amazing birds….imagine His love for you…his most wondrous creation! You are worth more to...

I Will Not Let You Go

I Will Not Let You Go

Posting a snapshot of a strong lesson after we brought home Luke Aiden from Ukraine three years ago. We’d been home just ten days and the transition, while getting easier with each passing day, still brought challenges, especially when our precious son would have a moment of extreme defiance. This particular time was because we wouldn’t let him play with a CD player that belonged to his older sister.Moments before, he had been happily playing on his bike. When we explained as best as we could in a language he was just learning, that the player wasn’t something he could freely play with, he had a giant melt-down. He screamed and attempted to break his toys.Of course, he was placed firmly but lovingly, in time-out.Then he began to hit himself, bite himself,...

Planting Seeds

Planting Seeds

The little green heads on our wheat are looking good. In just a few short weeks, we’ll be harvesting. If God keeps hail and storm winds away, we are hopeful for a bountiful crop. The wheat was sown last winter. We’ve walked out to the field, prayed for it and enjoyed seeing it come up. We didn’t, however, camp out next to the wheat. We didn’t tell it how much it really needs to grow for us, we didn’t fret over it, we didn’t lecture or nag the stalks about the coming harvest or the fact that if they didn’t produce then there wouldn’t be a harvest. We didn’t dig around in the dirt every other day, hoping to see the tiny seeds sprout, we didn’t in any way try to help the seeds along. We did put nitrogen...
