Waiting For His Heart While God Was Waiting For Me
Waiting. And waiting. Sometimes it felt like I was stuck forever, bound up hurt and sorrow is what life had become. I had prayed for so long for a good thing, a Godly thing. Why wouldn’t God want to answer something that was His heart? Just getting up in the morning, putting one foot in front of the other, just doing the day, the hour, the minute was all I could muster. But God was working. He was wooing me to Him. He was calling me to a deeper place…somewhere I’d never known before. It was a place of a gentle, quiet whisper. It was not harsh although chaos seemed to pursue me. It was not loud although pain seemed to scream into my heart. It was a still and hushed place. The freeing realization that everything was bound by the power of God. It...
How much does God love you?
God loves you. How many times have you heard that phrase? How many times have you told yourself that or attempted to believe it …though you struggle to feel you are worthy of His love, let alone worth His time. You feel so ordinary, so plain, nothing special, no big deal to God. I mean after-all, doesn’t He have a whole world full of kids and you most likely, aren’t the favorite, or even in the top 1,000. Don’t believe it. This is how much God loves you… He foresaw your struggles. He knew that even on your absolute best Johnny-good-citizen day you still would be full of desires that are selfish, desires that only feed self. He knew you would despair. He knew you would be filled with pride. He knew you would lie, cheat, attempt to make...

He knows your past and offers you a future
John 4:1-42 The woman at the well that day wasn’t expecting to meet the Messiah. Most likely, the fact that she had come during the heat of the day implies that she wasn’t expecting to meet anyone. She didn’t have to overhear the whispers to know what she was. Draped with shame, she was a woman living an immoral lifestyle. Who would want to be seen with her? How shocked she was when Jesus, a Jewish man sitting at the well, asked her for a drink. It’s obvious from her past, that she was used to dealing with men, but Jewish men didn’t talk to Samaritan women let alone ask something from them. Her words at first seem almost playful but notice that when Jesus reveals information about her life and the choices she’s made, she becomes a little more...
Ways we are Disconnected as Christians
I witnessed two young women, intensely talking. One was obviously going through a difficult situation. After a few moments, the other woman abruptly said she had to go and told the friend in distress to, “Text me.” It wasn’t much of a face-to-face, intimate encounter for the hurting.Encouragement instead, came through an inanimate object – her phone using condensed phrases in half attempts to soothe a wounded heart. I sense the enemy’s enjoyment; another successful attempt to disconnect. It’s Sunday morning. The worship band is “on,” the energy level is high, the crowd, the music, the clapping. Hands are raised and people are singing. Ask some in the crowd how their time with the Lord is going throughout the week and they might suggest...
