Redeemed

There he was, keeping rhythm with more than his hands and feet. Every ounce of Zac’s body was consumed. He was on autopilot as far as the gifting and talent was concerned.  There was unison between all the musicians and there was purpose to an offering we collectively desired to give in a sacrifice of praise. That’s the purpose of any worship team: holding the door open to the presence of God with awe, reverence and a respect that He alone is worthy.  But it was the inner-most, where the deep crevices of his heart had been opened…broken and redeemed that flowed out on this morning offering of praise and I was mesmerized by his “doing what he had been created to do.” There is a freedom that is like no other when your chains have...

Amid the Chaos of our World and Minds

Since mid-September when my daughter’s appendix ruptured while she was twenty some weeks pregnant our lives have been on hold so that we are available to serve her and her family. Several hospitals stays, bed rest and lots of doctor visits later…we are awaiting the arrival of our miracle baby. Lord willing, Kristen will deliver baby Evelyn soon and can then, a few weeks postpartum, finally have surgery to remove the appendix. It’s been a long road indeed but we are so beyond grateful and in awe of God’s hand of protection over our daughter and our unborn granddaughter. Every doctor, specialist…anyone medically involved has been clear, “The fact that Kristen and especially baby Evelyn survived is a complete miracle.” We...

When Life Hangs in the Balance

When Life Hangs in the Balance

Three weeks ago we were just starting this road when my daughter who was 26 weeks pregnant at the time suffered a ruptured appendix. It took four days to get an accurate diagnosis mostly because of the pregnancy.  Four days with raging infection which lead to all kinds of complications including a collapsed lung. All while there is life inside her very sick body. There were a couple of days where I had to press pass the thoughts that looked like might become reality. While we are no where near done with all of this, she is a far cry from where she was. The baby is older, more developed. The infection seems to be contained and drained and her lung is getting back to normal capacity. There are still variables and things that could change…changing everything....

Would you intercede?

There’s a reason for my absence on this blog for the past several days and I’m letting you in on the reason why because my family needs your prayers. I probably could have gotten a more recent picture, but I’m rather pooped tonight and the one below was the first one in my media folder of Kristen taken shortly after Ezra was born. Our daughter, Kristen is very ill. In the hospital since last week, she’s not getting better. Her baby, sweet Evelyn is tucked safely in her womb and due to make her appearance in December. Although pre-term labor has been an issue, its not getting worse. The issue is Kristen’s health. Therefore, we ask for prayers: That GOD WOULD HEAL. For WISDOM for the doctors. That baby Evelyn WOULD BE SAFE. That little...

Dodging spears

Dodging spears

We’ve all known the wounds from the direct hands of others and the arrows that have the intent to paralyze…if not kill. Sometimes, it can seem as if there are multiple sources aiming at you with fiery darts coming from all directions. Like everyone is against you. Has God placed some kind off bull’s eye on your back? When we fail, disappoint, make bad choices – we can expect backlash…with good reason. But when you are doing what you believe God has called you to do, when you are seeking Him and walking with Him… what about then? Why does so much seem to be against you? Fierce and fiery are the darts that are forged in a place of bitterness, resentment, jealousy, rage, selfishness and fear they come and they come fast. But all...
