Introducing: Jack the Wonder Dog

Introducing: Jack the Wonder Dog

This is Jack. Jack is a black lab who knows how to live. He only gets out of the truck on the morning farm run if the weather is between 65 – 75 degrees, no wind. Jack is brilliant. He sometimes smells really bad but is always willing to snuggle no matter how offensive he may be to others. Personal hygiene isn’t a huge priority for him. Jack loves to watch me work from the comfort of the truck seat, unless there is water involved. If we happen to drive back to the pond, Jack is climbing over me, over Luke, through the window to get his sleek, ottor-like body into the water. He could swim all day if you let him. The problem with that is I don’t really swim in the farm pond any more, I get a raft and float…to which Jack thinks is a really...

God’s Presence in the Fog

God’s Presence in the Fog

My soft pillow and quilt don’t give in easily. I so want to stay wrapped up and remain in my cozy morning cocoon. But I hear the hens calling for me. They know I will come and scatter their feed and fill their water troughs. They are the most precise alarm clock. My feet are the first to enter into the daily adventure. “Good morning, Lord.” Goats are certain that they will get their morning ration. Cowgirl is certain she will be milked. Crunching and chewing away as the first of her creamy milk goes to the barn Tom cat who sits, smacks his lips and meows until he’s lapping up his breakfast. Jack the Wonder Dog is going to get his kibble, cats are going to stretch and yawn and ever-so casually, wonder over to their food bowls.   Eggs are...

And God Saw That it Was Good

And God Saw That it Was Good

And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:20-21. Look around…see the magnificent creation that God SPOKE into being. How glorious, how miraculous is His creativity throughout the earth. What delight He must have in seeing the work of HIS hands! If He can speak into being humpback whales, sea turtles that migrate for thousands of miles, gorgeous and amazing birds….imagine His love for you…his most wondrous creation! You are worth more to...

Seeing God as Your Shepherd

Seeing God as Your Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd, He cares for me.  He disciplines me and when I am willing to come under His care, I have peace to lie down – without worry, without worrying about how everything is going to work out.  He is the one who quiets my soul – nothing else, no one else. He holds onto me, He will never let me go.   He desires that I follow Him and His ways – all other paths lead to problems, fear and anxiety for me. When I attempt to do things on my own – that is when I suffer.     Even though every day is hard and there are times when  I don’t know how I’m going to get through a trial – He is with me. He never leaves me. Even if I were facing death, He would be there, caring so tenderly for me. I have...

Raising a Hunter/Gatherer

So I’m raising my boy to be a mighty warrior of God. I’ve got a little experience under my belt with three older kids, but with Luke, past experience is often tossed out the window cause parenting a special needs child is a whole ‘nother world. But I was reminded today when I was reading through some back posts like the one below that I can and need to keep it simple with Luke. What am I saying, I need to keep it simple for me! There are so many things that can muddle my mind and so many times I feel like I am failing as a parent. (Which is why I am thankful for great resources like the one on the giveaway below) “I should’a done that.” “I could’a done that.” “I really shouldn’t have reacted like...
